Megan & Johnathan - Flourish Calligraphy

Megan & Johnathan's Beautiful Outdoor Wedding

This project was truly near and dear to my heart. The bride Megan and I are close friends and I knew when she asked me to create all of the stationery and calligraphy for her wedding, it was going to be a dream! I knew right away how beautiful and timeless her event was going to be, as Megan herself is a Fine Art Photographer with an eye for the details. Together we dreamed up her wishlist and saw it through from beginning to end. I’m so very thrilled to see this beautiful real wedding featured on the front page of Style Me Pretty as well as locally on The Wedding Co.!

Megan’s invitations were printed on gorgeous handmade paper and included a custom sketch of her family’s home, the beautiful setting for her and Johnathan’s wedding. Each oatmeal coloured envelope was sealed with antique gold wax and a rose imprint – which began to set the tone for the other botanical elements that came later with her day-of-details. The entrances of the grounds had welcome signs that were printed on linen and danced beautifully in the wind. Each guest was greeted at the ceremony with a program, tied with taupe coloured silk ribbon from The Poetry of Silk. After their heartfelt ceremony, guests were encouraged to “get cozy” with signs around the property attached to baskets of blankets and pillows with hand-crafted benches created by the brides father. The reception was held under a clear tent, which allowed guests to “dance beneath the stars” as we thoughtfully mentioned months previously on the invitations. Each guest was instructed on where to sit from the linen canvas adorned with individualized guest cards. Handmade paper place cards were carefully prepared for each guests’ place setting, while mixed vintage botanical prints were used as table numbers.

My favourite detail of the day was the custom “Mr. + Mrs. Bialas” linen sign that they held during their first portraits as husband and wife, and they now keep in their new home.

All of the details created for Megan and Johnathan’s wedding were the perfect mix of calligraphy, illustration and typography design. Everything turned out so classic and timeless, matching all the other components of their perfectly styled day.

This wedding will always be one of my favourites – thank you to Kayla Yestal who captured all of these details so very beautifully!
