It was such a joy to hear from the talented designer and planner, Victoria of Victoria Cameron Events, about an upcoming winter wedding in Queensland, Australia. When I found out the setting for the wedding was to be held on the bride’s family blueberry farm, I knew we had to incorporate some playful details. A beautiful botanical blueberry print was used as the envelope liner, and lent a bold, yet elegant colour scheme. We complemented it with more subtle tones for the gorgeous handmade paper, using dusty blue, dove grey and soft ivory. Classic typography ruled the design, with just the bride and groom’s names displayed in a windswept calligraphy style. A small custom illustration of a blueberry branch finished the invitation design and appeared later on the reception menus, adding some consistency. Final details included fine twine wrapped around each suite, sealed with ivory wax and dusty blue inked guest addresses, hand-calligraphed on each envelope.
The beautiful reception space was in an open tent with lots of greenery. Cocktails were held outside, and the entrance to the tent had an elegant display of candles and escort cards to direct guests where to sit. Mixed tables covered in dusty blue linen and harvest tables brought interest to the space with simple and minimal table settings. Contemporary flatware and layered dishes were set with elementary-styled menus – each displayed with hand-calligraphed guest names beneath our favourite illustrated blueberry branch detail. Simple carded table numbers were written out and placed amidst candles and floral arrangements. Loving how all of these details came together to create such a cohesive and spirited event. Special thanks to Katie Grant, who photographed everything with such a timeless approach.
